ELIZABETH BILLINGS Obituary
ELIZABETH POSEY GILLESPIE BILLINGS
Lili passed away on January 28, 2017, at the age of 54, at her home in Washington, D.C. surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Jonathan L. Billings and by her four children, Marjie, Jeb, Zuie and Matt. Lili is also survived by her sisters Joan Swift (Tom), Ellen Clare Dreyer (Scott) and Julie Sanders (Bart) and her brother Julian Gillespie III (Heather). In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A mass to celebrate her life will be offered this Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute and sent to DFCI-Div. of Development, Attn: Suzanne Kouri, 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA 02445.

I am just so saddened, to learn today, that Lili has passed, She was such a beautiful person, and a
loving, wonderful mother. Lili was always funny, and helpful, and so devoted to her family. I will remember her as a fellow Stone Ridge mom, and for being an amazing inspiration of strength, and love.

Our family was saddened at the news of Lili's passing. The last time we met was on a walk, and we discussed our children; our daughter was in class with Marjie at Stone Ridge. Although words are inadequate to describe her, she was Lili - strong, selfless and loving always concerned with others and their struggles never her own. Perhaps her most beautiful quality was her refusal to let her illness define her. For most of us, the burden she faced was unfathomable. But Lili stood right up and stared it squarely in the face. That's a hero.

Lovely Lili was joy incarnate. She always had a gorgeous happy smile, a kind thing to say, very present with you. We feel so lucky to have had the years sharing moments raising our kids as neighbors on Kennedy Drive. She was always a guiding light in the daily trials and tribulations of kid stuff, how incredibly lucky she was nearby! We are so terribly saddened by this news.
