Of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, died on Thursday, March 27, 2003 in Davis, CA. Mrs. Hoover wa born and raised in Walker County, GA. She served in the Women's Army Corps in World War II. Stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida, she met and married Charles M. Hoover of McLean, VA. They were married 56 years until his death in 2001. After the war, they returned to Fairfax County where they reared the family. She was a charter and active member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, Falls Church. Retiring to Smith Mountain Lake, Mrs. Hoover worked with her husband in a dock building business. Always active in the community and her church, she was a member of Church Women United, serving serving for two years as the Virginia State President. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Genia Cubine; husband, Charles; son, Patrick; three brothers and a sister. She is survived by daughters, Virginia H. McBlain of Bellevue, NE and Melanie E. Wise of San Francisco, CA; sons, C. Michael Hoover of Marietta, GA, Ralph C. Hoover of The Plains, VA, Kevin D. Hoover of Davis, CA, Brian C. Hoover of Vienna, VA, Christopher D. Hoover of San Francisco, CA; foster daughter, Peggy Miller of Bumpass, VA; sister, Margaret Cubine of Due West, SC; brothers, George H. Martin of El Cajon, CA and William F. Martin of Wilmington, NC; her children's spouses, nine grandchildren, a great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2003 at Trinity Ecumenical Parish, 40 Lakemont Dr., Moneta, VA, 24121, where funeral service will be Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 11 a.m. The family suggests memorials to the building fund at Trinity Ecumenical Parish at the above address or to the Lake Christian Ministries, 13157 Moneta Rd., Moneta, VA 24121.
