Dearest Mary Anne I was so sad to learn of the passing of your daughter Elizabeth from my daughter Whitney. They were in a book club together for a time in NYC. I met you at my parents' funerals and look forward to seeing you whenever you visit the Big Apple. May Elizabeth smile down upon us. I know there was much love she shared and then that love and laughter missed, but what a gift to cherish. Much love to the Powell Family and to you Mary Anne.

I photographed Elizabeth at home on January 2 of this year. She had called me the previous week and asked if I would do a series of "at-home" pictures for posterity. She explained the situation, and yet there was not a stitch of gloom hanging over our shoot. In fact, quite the opposite. We had so much fun that I came home and told my wife that I had a truly charmed and charming new client. We took our time, shot fun photos throughout the house, and laughed for several hours.
I am devastated to learn the news this morning. My condolences go out to all of Elizabeth's family. She was a wonderful person and I'm glad to have become her friend.

It was a pleasure to have known Mrs. Powell for the brief time I did. I know she is in Heaven smiling down on us and she was a very thoughtful and loving woman. Sometimes the Lord makes decisions we at do not understand but rest assured she is in a better place.

We only recently got to know Jeff and Elizabeth as our sons became best friends at school this year. Elizabeth was a ray of sunshine and was always a positive person. We are deeply sorry to see her pass but trust she is now pain-free in heaven. Chris and Martina Hagan

Broken Chain
We little knew that day
God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
but you didn't go alone,
for a part of us went with you
the day God called you home.
We're left with loving memories
of the time we had with you,
and feel your love around us
in everything we do.
Our family chain is broken
and our lives are not the same,
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.
Your Family is in our thoughts and prayers

Elizabeth was a ray of sunshine who brightened the lives of so many. There's a new and bright star shining in Heaven and watching over us.
Jeff, Eleanor and Charlie, I am so sorry for your loss. Your wife and mother loved you all so much; she radiated with pride when sharing stories about each one of you.
What a blessing to have been part of Elizabeth's life and watching her grow from a toddler, to OL student and Loyola Day Camp camper, through Regina and on to a DePauw coed, a New Yorker, and then wife and mother in her treasured Georgetown community. With each milestone, Elizabeth grew in wisdom, grace and beauty, and touched the hearts of those around her.
Elizabeth, the Engels love and miss you! God's blessings and our prayers to the Powell and Goldberg families.
