Enid Portnoy Obituary
Enid received her B.S. and M.A. degrees from Northwestern University, and her Ph.D. from West Virginia University. After retiring from teaching, she relocated to Rockville and was happiest spending time with her four grandchildren, engaging with her friends and pursuing numerous teachings, theater, book groups, volunteer and community service efforts.
Enid is survived by her son, Elliott and daughter in-law, Estee and their children Josh, Noah and Daniela, as well as her son Darin, and daughter-in-law, Glenda and their son, Benjamin.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, 9 a.m., at Congregation B'nai Tzedek. Interment to follow at Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg, Maryland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (colorectalcancer.org). Family will be receiving guests at Elliott and Estee Portnoy's residence following the burial. Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care.

Dear forever friend's Darin, Elliott and family,
Darin and Elliott: The names of whom have become the namesake of two of my four children for the reason of our beloved Enid Portnoy and the influence she has had on us in a similar fashion that you can certainly understand and deeply appreciate.
Me, a friend from the past remains the same, forever grateful for the life and eternal light of the gift that will continue to give and shine because of God´s gift of Enid to us.
Just as a star in the heavens eventually dies and becomes a black hole, yet its light that once emanated from such a star continues to travel through time eternity and will not cease to shine ever so brightly to illuminate the paths of us who remain for a time until our light likewise must be passed on yet to others.
We remain forever blessed even in this moment of sorrow, as she will be missed, but never be forgotten.
