ENRICO DAVOLI Obituary

DAVOLI ENRICO DAVOLI, M.D. (Age 85) Of Amelia Island, Florida passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Born in Queens, New York City, he received a B.A. in Biology from New York University (1952), and his Medical Degree from Georgetown University Medical Center (1956). Dr. Davoli was a pediatrician in private practice in McLean, Virginia for over 45 years. While living in Virginia, he and his wife were longtime parishioners of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Washington, DC. Since relocating to Florida in 2009, they have been parishioners of St. Michael Catholic Church of Amelia Island. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jane Simpson Davoli (1926- 2015), and by their sixth child, Paul (1965-1988). Dr. Davoli's loss is mourned by his adoring children: Cecilia (Baltimore, MD), Francis (Boulevard, CA), Michael (Alpharetta, GA), Joseph (Falls Church, VA) and Joanmarie (Amelia Island, FL). He was the adored grandfather of Ilaria, Dion, Isabella, Austin, and Quintin (FL), and Annamaria and Paul (VA). He was the honored father-in-law to Bill Thompson (FL) and Margaret Hoeger (VA). He was the beloved brother of his adoring only sister, Elizabeth Davoli (NJ). Enrico and Jane loved their home on Amelia Island and spent many happy years here after their retirement from Virginia. Enrico described Jane as his "Irish Rose" and felt her loss every day. Despite great sadness, Enrico focused on his many talents over the past 20 months. He founded the Italian Club at Osprey Village, he held art shows exhibiting his abstract acrylic paintings, he became a proud member of the Nassau County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), he enjoyed meetings with the St. Michael's Men's Club, and he relished his role boxing as "Kid Rico" at the YMCA's Parkinson's Therapy Class. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Jose Kallukalam, Celebrant. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the parish hall. Dr. Davoli will be laid to rest with his wife and son in Bosque Bello Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard where the Vigil Service for the deceased will be held at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of the following three worthwhile causes: (1) The Paul R. I wish to express our deepest sympathy to the Family on behalf of my family and myself. Dr Davoli was such a dear soul with an enormous and kind heart. Our memories are from McLean as we shared many relationships. My mother, worked in the office, my father shared his interest in softball. My late sister, was the mascot for his softball team and he took a special interest in her many medical problems and the range of difficulties they caused her. Dr Davoli knew how to quiet the storms and additionally make Jan's day. I was a cheerleader for the team and often babysat for the twins.
We have such fond memories of him as a doctor, friend, neighbor and employer. To have had this privilege was truly both a blessing and a treasure that lives on in memory and inspiration.
His was a kindness that brings rest and peace where it is most needed. May your memories of him do the same for you as long as you also shall live.

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure that can fill your hearts with love and bring you peace until the fulfillment of Hosea 13;14 where Almighty God promises " From the power of the grave I will redeem them from death I will recover them." May this bring your family some comfort at this difficult time.
