Heartfelt condolences to all the McVadon family on the passing of your father. I served with then Commander McVadon when he was the Commanding Officer of Patrol Squadron 40 at NAS Moffett Field. What I remember most about your dad was his smile and his great concern for the well being of the sailors and officers under his command. He always took the time to ask how one was doing as he knew everyone. He made it a point of serving not just as a CO but as a mentor to his officers in guiding and encouraging them in their career. He was totally approachable and even at early morning quarters he presented that great smile as he addressed the squadron. A great CO and a leader who will not be forgotten.
Rest in Peace Skipper

I served under him at VP40 when he was the CO. He was a great commander and just a great person. I was Mr. Vice at the change of command when he was leaving VP40. Our thoughts and prayers to his family.

I was in AIMD while he was C.O. of the Keflavik base, and served as his Command Senior Chief for a few months when the CMC was off of the island. He was a fair and caring man.

I crossed paths with Admiral Mcvadon a number of times during his Navy Career and after. First in VP 30 I introduced him to the P3C on his way to be the XO of VP 40 and later when he was COMFAIRKEF and I was CO of VP 44 deployed to Iceland. He was a very caring man on the ground and in the air. I know he is once again with his beloved Marshall. RIP Admiral.
