ERIC ROHLEDER Obituary

ERIC JOSEPH ROHLEDER "El Guapo"
Died peacefully in Washington, DC on November 9, 2018, at the age of 35 after a courageous battle with cancer. Eric is survived by his parents, Stephen and Giselle Rohleder of Austin, Texas; his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel Rohleder and Joanna Harbin of Atlanta, Georgia; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Michael Sneed of Dallas, Texas; his brother, Matthew Rohleder of Chicago, Illinois; and his grandparents, Raphael Delgado-Simonet of San Antonio, Texas, and William and Darlene Rohleder of San Antonio, Texas; as well as his extended family which includes numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Gloria Delgado.Eric was born on January 26, 1983, in Austin, Texas. He was a proud graduate of Gonzaga College High School (2001) in Washington, DC, the University of Virginia (2005), and Le Cordon Bleu (2007). Eric passionately pursued the diploma-level of the London-based Wine and Spirits Education Trust. A visionary and entrepreneur at heart, Eric launched Cordial Craft Wine, Beer & Spirits in 2013. His passion for promoting independent producers and providing exceptional customer service drove him to expand Cordial to two locations in Washington, DC. Eric had a genuine and sincere appreciation for building relationships over a drink or meal, travelling for new experiences, and over-analyzing fantasy football. His connection with others was evident through his life motto of "Keeping Your Glass Half-Full". Eric will be remembered for his sarcastic wit, generous spirit and Texan swagger. A scholarship has been established in Eric's honor at Gonzaga College High School. The family would like to thank all of Eric's friends and colleagues who were by his side during his battle with cancer and cordially invite everyone to raise a glass in Eric's honor. Cheers! No Services scheduled at this time.

I was just reading in the Gonzaga news about the dedication of a space to Eric. I learned that Eric passed in 2018. It stopped my heart. I remember Eric with such clarity. As his coach and teacher he so impressed me! He was mature beyond his years! So smart and so dedicated to everything he put his mind to. He had the perfect mind for a distance runner. Focused, calm, and always working on getting better. He was also one of the students in class who I knew was a lot smarter than me-I just happened to know more about one topic. Honestly if all my students were like Eric I would have paid Gonzaga to let me teach! Having known Eric made my life better.
