Although we haven't seen one another in years. We have had occasion to touch through our holiday greetings and an occasional phone call. Lorraine, we will miss you. We have always known you as a kind, loving, and inspiring person. God knows this and has taken you home to become one of his Army of Angels.
There's A Reason
....if we trust God as we should,
It all will work out for our good.
HE KNOWS THE REASON.

I met Mrs. Mayfield about five years ago enrolling my child in St. Margaret's daycare. Mrs. Mayfield was a very kind and loving person. She will truly be missed.
My prayers and thoughts are with the family.

My sisters and I are St. Margaret schoolmates of Ira and Idica. Our mothers both were very involved thru volunteerism at St. Margaret's. There is where their friendship began. It wouldn't be a week if at some point we didn't "drop' pass Mrs. Mayfield's house (like her husband wasn't co-owner...lol). And oh my goodness, I cant forget the prom dresses she made for me, my sisters and maybe all of the girls that every graduated from St. Margaret's...lol!!!
Mrs. Mayfield was a definite part of our lives as we loved her dearly. She was a highly visible, loving, funny, dependable, black female role model in our faith based community. I know at this time that she and Ira, Sr., along with my momma and daddy, are all together speaking about how proud they are of their great legacy imbedded with their children. This is what their affording us a Catholic School education really prepared us for, the time when their physical presence is no longer with us. We have thousands of MINUTES of life lessons to reflect, laugh about, and pass down to their grandbabies. We all have big shoes to fill! Stay strong and remember your parents are with you everyday.
With love - Alisha Roberts - Class of 82 St. Margaret's

Lorraine and I were schoolmats at Virginia State University in the '50s. We have benn neighbors since the '70s. She was a sweet, sweet spirit and she fought a good fight and God took her home.

To the children, you now have two guardian angels watching over you.
