Esther Friedman Obituary

Esther Ruth Friedman, 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Ashburn, Virginia, on June 4, 2025. Her family is deeply saddened to announce her passing.
Born on February 13, 1949, in Trenton, New Jersey, Esther was the second daughter of Eugene and Miriam Friedman. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Evelyn Miller.
Esther earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Rochester in 1971 and an MBA from George Washington University in 1980. Esther built a distinguished career in the civilian, defense, and intelligence contracting sectors, where she held leadership roles and contributed to numerous high-impact programs.
A devoted patron of the performing arts, Esther was a long-time member of the Kennedy Center. In 1976, Esther proudly participated in the Bikecentennial, a historic cross-country ride celebrating America's 200th birthday, cycling 4,250 miles along the TransAmerica Trail.
After retiring in 2016, Esther spent her time traveling extensively, nurturing longtime relationships and forging new ones. Those who knew Esther will remember her for her sense of humor, her outgoing personality, and her love of the arts.
Esther is survived by sons Adam and Joshua Lewin, daughter-in-law Natalya; and beloved granddaughter Sofia. Esther will be dearly missed by the many relatives and friends whose lives she touched.
Services will be private. Donations in her honor may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
