Etta Becker Obituary

Etta Nezin Becker, age 95 of Annapolis, MD died peacefully on September 17, 2025. Etta was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Abraham and Celia Miller Nezin. She grew up in Washington, DC and always considered herself a true Washingtonian.

Etta graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in art education. She was a founding member of the Alpha Theta chapter of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority.

Her early career included 10 years of teaching art in Montgomery County, MD elementary schools. Etta participated in local politics not only as a Democratic precinct chairman, but as a dedicated campaign manager for her late husband "Marty" Becker throughout his 16-year tenure in the Maryland House of Delegates. Following Marty's untimely death in 1979, Etta worked as an aide to several Congressional leaders for 25 years.

Etta loved art and gardening. She was an avid reader, followed local and national politics; a self-proclaimed "news" junkie. Etta will be remembered for her spunk, love of family and care and consideration for others.

Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Martin S. Becker and then by longtime companion Albert Kreger. She is survived by her daughter Leslie Anne Becker (Randall Rumer) of Renick, WV, her daughter Nancy Lee (Robert Yeroshefsky) of Frankford, DE, grandchildren Joshua and Jessica, great-grandson Cody, and grandchildren of Albert Kreger; Alexandra and Jesse. Etta is survived by a loving niece, nephew, cousins and many longtime friends.
