Evelyn Gouge Obituary


EVELYN GARDNER GOUGE(Age 85)  
Of Vienna, VA passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011, at her home at Sunrise Assisted Living. Evelyn is the beloved wife of the late James Reid Gouge, Jr.; loving mother of Amy Gouge Richards and Jimmy Gouge; sister of Reda Bledsoe and Nelson Gardner; and grandmother of Timothy Richards, Kevin Richards, Jennifer Richards, Leah Modar, Eamon Gouge and Hayden Gouge. She is also survived by three great grandchildren Juliette Richards, Chloe Richards and Rowen (Leah). Born in Florence, SC in 1926, she moved to Washington, DC in the late 40's to work for the Department of the Navy. After marrying in 1953, she commited her time as a homemaker and mother, and was an active member of her church. Her devotion to serve was shown as a sunday school teacher, childrens church worker and singing in the choir for 42 years. She continued her career at the David Taylor Naval Research facility until her retirement. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting and spending time with her family. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 12:00- 2:00 PM at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Vienna Baptist Church, 541 Marshall Rd., SW Vienna, VA 22180. Interment will be held at Quantico National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to Vienna Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Choir Ministry.
