I was saddened to hear about your loss, and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I was a lifeguard and swim coach at Fairfax Pool when Evin was young, 1987-90 or so. I vividly remember Evin and Miriam as some of our regular "pool rats" who would come for hours, rain or shine. Those days are fond memories for me, and Evin remains a part of them.

I worked at Fairfax Pool throughout high school and was fortunate enough to have spent many lazy summers hanging out with Evin. Although I hadn't seen him since I was at JMU, I was shocked and saddened to hear about his passing. Evin always had a smile on his face, even when things were difficult for him. His strength and courage will be an inspiration to me for the rest of my life.

Ken, Mindy and I want to express our deepest sympathy on this sad loss. We didn't know Evin, but the loss of any child is to hard to imagine. He will be in our prayers.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Shoap,
I have many fond memories of Evin and Tommy Boehm coaching the Kings Park West Neptunes swim team in 2003. Evin had a great rapport with the kids and was a wonderful coach. He touched many lives. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ernie and I feel this loss deeply. It is so out of the order of things. Our thoughts are with you and the grandparents. We know how painful this is for Bea as well.

A tragic loss but I know that I, like all who knew Evan, am better off for having known him. His courage and optimism in the face of his illness was an inspiration that I'll always remember.
