WHYTE, FAY GILL (Age 73)
Of Rehoboth Beach, DE died on Friday, July 18, 2003 in Lewes, DE. The daughter of Belle Mack Gill and Edward P. Gill and sister of the late Norma M. Gill, she was born Ina Fay Gill on June 25, 1927 in Washington, D.C. Fay graduated from Georgetown Visitation School in Washington, D.C. and was married to Richard W. Whyte on March 20, 1948. The made their home and raised five children in McLean, VA, resided briefly in Paris, VA in the late 1970s and then made their final home in Rehoboth Beach. In their later years they wintered on Summerland Key, FL.
Fay was a great mother and grandmother and to her innumerable friends, she was a favorite human being. She was gregarious and fun-loving, and a member of many clubs and organizations including the Rehoboth Art League and the Delmarvalous Quilters. She also was a regular member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach and was a generous donor to dozens of charities.
Besides her sister, Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Whyte. Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Donohue and Robert E. Whyte of Reston, VA, Kathleen M. Whyte of New Market, MD, Thomas R. Whyte of Boone, NC and Barbara J. Nowakowski of Rehoboth Beach; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. at St. Edmonds Catholic, King Charles and Laurel Streets, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Friends may call Monday, evening, July 21, 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the PARSELL FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATORIUM, ATKINS LODGE CHAPEL, 1449 Kings Hwy., Lewes, DE. Burial will be at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1601 Concord Pike, Suite 78, Wilmington, DE 19720.
