Our mother, Frances Annie Nichols Hendrickson, died July 20, 2018, peacefully in her sleep just as she wanted. She was born April 7, 1928 to Edward Enoch and Sarah Frances Leach Nichols in Leesburg, VA, the first in her family to be born in a hospital. She grew up in Purcellville, VA where he father was a hardware merchant.Mom attended schools in Loudoun County and graduated from George School in Newtown, PA in 1946. In 1950, she graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in early childhood education. She subsequently received a Master's in Education from the University of Maryland. Mom was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honor society for educators.A kindergarten teacher for 29 year in Montgomery County, MD, she taught at Rockville, Larchmont, Garrett Park, Hungerford, and Bethesda elementary schools.Mom was a lifelong member of the Society of Friends (Quaker) and attended Goose Creek Friends Meeting in Lincoln, VA.Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Bartlett R. Hendrickson, of Ashburn, VA; two children, Sarah Nash (John) and John Hendrickson (Pat); four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Milton and Ken Nichols.A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on August 10, 2018 at Goose Creek Friends meeting house, Lincoln, VA.
