To the family of Fred DeValkeneer:
With the passing of our Brother, Fred, it leaves a hole in our hearts. Many here have known Fred for more than 50 years. Some have only met him a few times. Whenever you met Fred, he always left a lasting impression on you. He was a kind and friendly man. He began a legacy in 1962 that many folks outside the Fire Service don't know about. He brought two Fire Companies from two States together for what is now 47 years. The friendships that Fred has fostered throughout these years is why Fred will be remembered so fondly. The Officers and Members of the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department wish to offer our condolances in this difficult time. Fred Devalkeneer will always be our Brother.
St. Peter flung open the gates and said "Come in Brother, you've seen enough of hell!"
God bless the family and friends of Fred Devalkeneer and our Brothers and Sisters in the City of Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department.

Our most loving thoughts and prayers are with you at this time, dear Diane, Dana and family. Your Dad was a wonderful man whom we will always remember fondly. Losing those who formed the basic structure of your life is so very difficult to endure, but we know you will feel his presence always. That does endure as well as the knowledge that he is at peace now. Diane, you are as a sister to me so I doubly share your grief at this time. Ron and I love you all and will be with you today.
All our love always,
Sharon and Ron
