To the family of Fred DeValkeneer:

With the passing of our Brother, Fred, it leaves a hole in our hearts. Many here have known Fred for more than 50 years. Some have only met him a few times. Whenever you met Fred, he always left a lasting impression on you. He was a kind and friendly man. He began a legacy in 1962 that many folks outside the Fire Service don't know about. Our most loving thoughts and prayers are with you at this time, dear Diane, Dana and family. Your Dad was a wonderful man whom we will always remember fondly. Losing those who formed the basic structure of your life is so very difficult to endure, but we know you will feel his presence always. That does endure as well as the knowledge that he is at peace now. Diane, you are as a sister to me so I doubly share your grief at this time. Ron and I love you all and will be with you today.
