Lisa,
Kimber woke me this morning with the news of Skip’s death. Not an easy way to greet the morning.
Being so much older and having survived the grief that accompanies the passing of many relatives and friends, I have begun to accept these happenings as part of living. It’s the young ones who have more difficulty enduring the loss. I have never met Chloe or Cole, but I can feel their shock and for them I can question the fairness and wonder how to go on. They need you – Lisa, Jackie. I know you are there for them.
My sincere sympathy and best wishes for all.

We are all saddened by the loss of your beloved husband and Dad. I only met Skip a couple of times walking the chihuahua -- so funny to see this big guy with a tiny dog! But I could tell that he loved this activity and notoriety! He talked to everyone in your neighborhood and was obviously well respected and loved. What a wonderful farewell to Skip this Saturday. He'll forever be in your hearts.

Skip you will be missed in this life. Your jokes, infectious laughter and personality filled the bar and many of our evenings at Arties. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

We were heartbroken to learn of Skip's passing. He was always a smiling face and a warm welcome to us as patrons of Arties. He was more than a bartender, he was our friend and will truly be missed. Our hearts go out to his wife and children.

I only knew Skip for a short time...he made the best "sweet melissa's" on this side of the world. I will never forget when I went around the restaurant with him in his santa suit taking pictures with all the kids. Or how he would watch out for me whenever my boyfriend at the time and i would come up there for lunch. I will never forget him or the fun times we had together at Arties. He will be missed greatly.

Dear Lisa, Chloe and Cole,
I met Skip more than 20 years ago when he worked downtown. Years later I worked with him at Arties and continued to see him frequently as a customer after I moved on. I was never in his presence more than 5 minutes when he wasn't whipping out the latest pics of Chloe and Cole and regailing my husband and I with the latest Gould family adventures. Our inside joke is that I named my 8 yr old daughter Chloe and my best friend named her 6 year old son Cole. He swore it was all his doing... :) I've never seen a man love his family like Skip loved you all. Hold that close to you now and forever.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Nicole has especially fond memories of her years working with Skip behind the bar at Arties. She said she thinks of him like a second Dad. Michelle and I will always remember how friendly, funny and intelligent he was. The teachers at Frost Middle will never forget our "Teacher's Night Out" after events at school because Skip always made us feel welcome.

Skip was just the BEST! My husband and I were weekly Friday late afternoon customers at Arties for over 15 years and he was the biggest part of why we continued to patronize it for so long. We will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Skip, Lisa, and the children. God Bless, from Kathy, Dina & Mohamed Saleh, Fairfax, VA.

Dear Lisa & family:
I know we had only met a few times at Artie's and had that fabulous time seeing Bruce Springsteen together and how we (Peter & I) knew Skip loved "The Boss" music. Peter, Lisa (my daughter) and I will miss him as a friend and know your time of sorrow is very difficult. He was such a kind and fun loving person. Truly will be missed! :(
Regards, Yvonne, Peter & Lisa Tharp
