GARY P. GILLUM  
After 10 years with Alzheimer's and more with diabetes type II, Gary P. Gillum passed away quietly October 6, 2016. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the house Thursday, October 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. All are welcome.  Born in Oklahoma in 1939, Gary attended Mount Vernon High School and went on from there to MIT, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and the University of Chicago. His career was as an economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and the FRB Board of Governors in the District of Columbia. Mr. Gillum was active in his community, helping prevent overdevelopment at the Vienna Metro station as well as serving as chairman of the Town of Vienna, VA planning commission. He cherished his family and enjoyed bicycling, walking, and growing rhododendrons and azaleas. He is survived by his wife, Myra; two children, Allison and Eliot Gillum; his brother, William N. Gillum; and sister Linda Gillum Perkins.

I did not personally know Gary, but I have been fortunate to have known Myra almost all of my life. Myra has always maintained the highest ideals and values, and that in itself tells me that Gary must have been a very fine person. My thoughts are with the Gillum family.
