GARY CLAUDIOUS MINOR "Butch"  
Gary Claudious Minor, aka, "Butch," was born on July 13, 1948 in Washington, D.C., the eldest son of Lewis C. Minor and Seretha Blanche Gudger.He graduated from Grimke Elementary School, Shaw Junior High School and Phelps Vocational High School, the latter in 1966. At Phelps, a high school centered on the trades, Butch completed his studies to become an electrician.Butch was always fascinated by how things worked, both mechanically and electrically,and, in his younger years, was always pulling something apart that was broken, trying to fix it,with greater success as he grew older.Butch enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school and furthered his trainingand studies as an electrician. He was honorably discharged in 1972, having achieved the rank ofStaff Sergeant. He continued to work as a journeyman electrician throughout his life.Butch loved music and he especially loved playing music. He studied the trombone forseveral years, then went to, as the late Donny Hathaway would call it, the "percussion side oftown." Butch loved playing his bongos and conga drums.He will always be remembered for hosting the "1992 Gudger Family Reunion" at hisformer home in Oxon Hill, Maryland, where over one hundred Gudgers-- be they Gudgers,Minors, Hughes, Hunters, Garners, McCoys and others-- from "The DMV (DC, Maryland, andVirginia)" and Oregon celebrated family in grand style, like it had never been done before.Gary Claudious Minor joined the ancestors on October 17, 2021. He is survived by his son, Zachary Minor; brothers, Donnell Gudger, Gregory Gudger, Durwin Garner, Anthony Hughes and Kenneth Gudger, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.Homegoing Services will be held at 10 a.m., Sunday, November 14, 2021 Snead Funeral Home, 5732 Georgia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20011. Internment will follow at10 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Virginia.
