GEORGE P. BOWMAN, JR.  Lt. Col. Air Force (Ret.)  
Of Woodbridge, VA died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center at age 79. George is survived by his wife, Judith Bowman, four children and spouses - Richard and Amy Bowman of Alexandria, VA; Donald and Kim Bowman of San Antonio, TX; Jennifer Bowman of Bristow, VA; and Ruth and Richard String of Manassas, VA. Other survivors include: one sister Mary Katherine Bowman of Richmond, VA; one brother-in-law Larry Wickline and wife JoAnn of Columbus, OH; and seven grandchildren Brandi, Michael, Evan, Jonas, Tim, Patrick, and Caroline.George was a 1952 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He met his wife Judy at Ohio State Baptist Student Union while completing his Doctoral studies at The Ohio State University in 1960. George served 28 ½ years in the Air Force as a nuclear research engineer stationed in Sacramento, CA; Fairbanks, Alaska; and Washington, DC; and as an instructor of the Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. A Military Funeral service and burial will be held in autumn 2011 at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Fisher House at Ft.
