George Gus Moshos

George Gus Moshos, walking into his 67th year of life, of Arlington, Virginia, left this world peacefully and entered into the presence of the Lord on January 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

The church was George's home where he gave over 40 years of his life. He will be remembered as a pillar of its foundation, impacting numerous lives throughout his time serving Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church.

Some of George's treasured memories came from his 40-year tenure at WTOP Radio, where he served as Production Manager, working alongside distinguished Hall of Fame athletes, celebrities, and Washington personalities and dignitaries.

George leaves behind his siblings, Frances (and Christopher) Kalavritinos, Tina (and Paul) Gonzalez, and James (and Olympia) Moshos, his beloved nephews, Peter Kalavritinos, Gus (and Catina) Moshos, and his beloved niece Reni (and Jared) Worley. He also leaves behind an extended family of cousins, many family members, friends, and his beloved Saint Katherine family.

A visitation will be held on January 20, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 3149 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, Virginia 22041, immediately followed by the funeral at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22201. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church.

His neighborhood quad where he lived all his life

January 20, 2024

To me, this picture of us is my most treasures memory of ours. I had no idea I would never see you again. I did feel in my heart that I needed to pull out my camera on this mild December day, and take a snapshot of us.

George, I sure hope you and Venus are running the fields of glory together (please give her my love). My Tunechi and Tamar stop at your doorstep waiting for what will never happen again, searching for that familiar whistle they will never hear again.

You were a staple in our Quad, always checking in, especially if someone hasn´t shown their face in a while. The pandemic wasn´t as horrible for us dog parents because we got to socialize and you knew and loved on all of our babies. Thank you for sharing your light with us.

I will miss you and can never forget the impact you have had on me and everyone in your proximity. Rest peacefully; job well done, my friend!

So sorry to hear this tragic news. I remember George from coaching GOYA basketball for St. Katherine´s. His parents, Gus and Anna, and my parents were all very good friends. (Jennie and Jimmy Johns) from Richmond, Va. may his memory be everlasting
