GEORGE SUNG Obituary
George Chao-sheng Sung
Husband of Carolyn and father of Andrew (wife Heidi) and Sarah, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2021. His bright spirit and easygoing nature will be missed. Born in Taiwan in 1935, son of a medical doctor Jui-chen Sung and Chih Sung-Tsai, he attended school in Kaohsiung and graduated from Tunghai University. In 1961 he came to the States and earned a MA in political science from the University of Wisconsin and PhD from George Washington University. He was a China specialist at Rand Corporation, researching power politics and leadership. He built a family and meaningful scholarly and entrepreneurial career. A prominent figure in the Taiwanese community, he was a founder of the Capital Area Taiwanese Federal Credit Union. Additional survivors are sister Chao-pi Tseng and brothers Chao-ho and John. A memorial service will take place at 12 noon on December 11 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 7730 Bradley Blvd., Bethesda, MD. Donations in George's name may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Lewy Body Dementia Association, or Tunghai University. Please sign family guestbook at www.DeVolFuneralhome.com

Dear Carolyn: I was sorry to learn of George´s passing, and I hope that your family and friends provide some support, although I know the loss is not easy to endure. Sandy and I send our condolences from Chapel Hill, where we are in a retirement center outside the city. I think of you often, Carolyn, since you were a big part of my life at LC.
