Dear Gordon family,
I am sorry to hear about Dr. Gordon's passing, but it seems like he had a long, full life.
I grew up as the Gordon's next-door neighbor.
I have a lot of good memories of the Gordons, like playing with their golden retriever, jumping on their trampoline, and shooting baskets with them. I remember being awe-struck by the awesome sound of Alan's guitar playing blasting from his room, which was an inspiration for my being an avid guitar player as a teenager. I appreciate Sarah's warning me about how rigorous engineering was when I was about to start majoring in it (I eventually switched to something else).
I remember Dr. Gordon being good natured and kind. I consider myself lucky to have been their neighbor.

I spent a good part of my childhood in the Gordon home in Potomac. My two favorite memories of Dr. G were when he fixed the power supply in my Heathkit guitar amp and his standard routine when we were shooting basketball in the driveway. He had a one-handed set shot and would launch one, say "one more," launch another and say "one more" etc.

May the memories of Gerald as the wonderful father, husband and friend prevail. I knew Dr. Gordon through my friendship with Andy the past thirty years. I'll always remember him as a happy, generous and sincere person and appreciate how his influence has benefitted me in my connection to his family.

This is a man I respect and love. I say that in the present because he lives on in the people that he cared about, treated without asking for payment, invited into his house as guests... A gentle, principled, caring, and charitable human being who will live on in us. I remember -
some years as a kid - I was somewhat stressed between school bullies and difficult teachers, coaches etc. My vacations to his home were like stepping into an alternate universe for a couple days - where there was peace and stability. A lot of that has to do with the character of this man, his demeanor & the hard work he put into providing for his family
