GORDON ANGELL Obituary

Gordon R. Angell
Gordon Angell (84), resident of McLean, VA for 52 years, a loving husband, wonderful father, US veteran, and civil servant died December 1, 2021. A graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Gordon served his country at home and abroad in the US Air Force and the US Departments of Agriculture, Commerce and Transportation as an expert on maritime commerce. He was a voracious reader of the Washington Post, keeping issues for weeks and even months to make sure that he read every word from the front to the back page. He loved jazz, travel - especially on trains, the Capitals, good wine, bad jokes, and, of course, his family and friends. He always wanted everyone around him to have a good time and was a wonderful guest and consummate host. A devout Catholic, he learned about the nature of human suffering in his lifelong fandom of the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians. He was a generous man and kind to a fault. He leaves Lubov, his wife of 57 years; his sons Max (Rebecca, Theo and Piper) and Luke (Kamilla, Annabelle and Andrei); and many nieces and nephews. His family, extended relatives and many friends loved him very much. He was a very good man and will be greatly missed. Since Gordon donated his body to Georgetown University School of Medicine, no funeral arrangements are being made at this time.

So sad to hear of Gordon's passing. We had many a fine beer break when one (or both of us) were supposed to be doing yard work. He is gone too soon.
