GORDON HAROLD McKAY  (Age 81)

The family then settled in Garrett Park, Maryland. A husband of sixty years and father of four, Gordon was a dedicated family man and an enthusiastic grandfather. He enjoyed reading, traveling, and working in the yard. His personal concern for others led to a lengthy career at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development with the CDBG, HOME and homeless programs, striving to improve living conditions in communities across the nation. He worked on both coasts before retiring in Virginia, consulting for several more years on fair housing and lead paint abatement.Gordon is survived by wife Linda; sons, Michael and Steven; daughter, Megan (Jason); and grandsons Henry and Colin Wakeman; also brother Floyd and sister Margie. He is predeceased by daughter Kristen, to whom he was devoted, parents Harold and Maude, and sister Mary McKay Rockwood. I've rarely met a more decent and caring man than Gordon McKay.
He was a colleague from my earliest days in Housing and Urban Development
and a longtime friend. I will miss him very much.
