On Friday, November 2, 2001, at the Cornelia Nixon Davis Healthcare Center in Wilmington, NC. He was born in Baltimore, MD on July 23, 1909. Mr. Smull was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II and a retired federal government executive. Surviving are his wife, Mary Dobson Smull of Wilmington; his daughter, Mary Farris of Wilmington; his sons, Richard of Leesburg, VA and Michael of Annapolis, MD, and five grandchildren. Memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 3 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2001, by Rev. Susan G. Dankel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
