Harold Bardonille Jr.

On the afternoon of March 18, 2023, at the age of 86, Harold Bardonille, Jr. died peacefully at his home in Tampa, FL, following a short illness. He was surrounded by his wife and children.

Born May 28, 1936 in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. to Harold Anthony Bardouille, Sr. and Adelia Scatliffe, Harold spent his formative years in New York City. After serving in the US Air Force, he received his BA degree in sociology from South Carolina State College (1962); MA in sociology from Atlanta University (1964); and JD from Georgetown University Law Center (1981).

Harold built a career of education, leadership and service beginning as an instructor, Southern University, New Orleans; Director of Research, Atlanta University School of Social Work; and in Washington, DC with the US Departments of Health Education & Welfare, Housing & Urban Development, and the Army. With the District of Columbia Government, he served in the Office of Bicentennial Programs, Department of Finance & Revenue, and as the Recorder of Deeds. After retirement from DC Government, he served as Director of Physical Facilities at Howard University; Chairman of the Board and Director of Facilities at Paul Public Charter School; and Board member at the Perry Street Prep Public Charter School.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sisters and first wife Sandra Vails Bardonille. He is survived by his brother Lorden; wife Glenda; children Anthony (Meedie), Kisha and Sabrina; and step-daughter Kali-Ahset Amen; four grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A private memorial will be held. Donations in his name can be sent to Paul Public Charter School and Perry Street Prep Public Charter School in the District of Columbia.
