Harry Bridges Obituary

Harry Taylor Bridges of Springfield, VA, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2025. Harry lived a life filled with a love of travel and hiking, valued friendships, and dedicated service to his church and community. A graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, he served in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps and later worked for IBM as an instructor and systems engineer. Harry retired from the Federal Highway Administration as a geographer and environmental engineer. Active in civic and church activities, he held leadership roles as a YMCA volunteer, Election Officer for Fairfax County, and a Deacon at Providence Presbyterian Church. An enthusiastic outdoorsman, Harry was a Level Walker for the C&O Canal and a lifetime member of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, completing numerous 100-kilometer walks in the mid-Atlantic. Harry was also proud of his travels to every state in the U.S. and 99 countries. Many cherished family members and friends continue to honor Harry's memory. A Celebration of Life will be held at Providence Presbyterian Church, 9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA, on October 18 at 11 a.m.
