December 26, 1928 - September 23, 2018  Harvey Richard Brassé, 89, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away at his home, September 23, 2018. He was born December 26, 1928 in Washington, DC, to Jane Chinn Hurst and Harvey Richardson Brassé. He is survived by his wife Vida June Brassé and his children Sally Ann, Robert Christopher and his wife Denise Michelle, and John Edward. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Brown.Harvey was a 1948 graduate of Central High School in Washington, DC. He graduated from Wilson Teachers College and was accepted into the U.S. Navy's officers' candidate school in Long Beach, CA. He served 13 years in the Navy as a cryptologist, retiring in 1965 with the rank of Lieutenant. Upon his return to the D.C. area, he spent several years engaged in sales and entrepreneurial activities, such as launching a pool management company. Harvey also worked as the Director of Graphics for George Washington University, retiring in 1994 after 27 years of service. He was always an avid music lover, singer and piano player.Harvey died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. His sense of humor, powerful intellect, and inspiring faith and unyielding commitment to family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him.A memorial celebration of Harvey's life will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 11 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, 3313 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22201.
