Helen Chappell Obituary



CHAPPELL HELEN MARIE CHAPPELL On July 22, 2008 of Vienna, VA passed away peacefully at her family home several weeks after her 92nd Birthday. A native of Northern VA. Helen was born in Georgetown on July 6, 1916. Helen was one of the original Rosie Riveters during World War II that started women in the work force. Her husband Burke "Hughes" Chappell was in the Army. After years of traveling Helen and Hughes settled in Northern VA to raise a family. They resided and had a business in Vienna for 40 years until Hughes passed away in August 2006, after 65 years of marriage. Helen is survived by her three children, Burke, Dale and Susan and a brother Charles "Bus" Bell and wife Shirley of McLean and sister Jean Bell Harris of Charlottesville, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Helen's Life Celebration at MONEY AND KING FUNERAL HOME, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Sunday, July 27, 2008 from 11 until time of service at 12 noon. Interment Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, DC on Monday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. Please view and sign family guest book at www.moneyandking.com .
