Passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2004. Beloved mother of Patricia A. Cochrane of Ijamsville, MD, William A. Darling of Silver Spring, MD, Richard A. Darling of Poolesville, MD and Susan Darling Thompson of Olney, MD. Helen, better known to her family as Memaw, leaves behind four children, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. She was a native Washingtonian and resided in the Maryland suburbs of Washington for her entire 96 years. Helen attended Central High School in the District and was married at St. Matthew's Cathedral in D.C., to William A. Darling, her husband for over 50 years. She was one of eight children, with five sisters and two brothers. Her parents came to this country from Sicily and her father established local Italian grocery stores in the District where her family lived for many years. Helen spent her final years in Leisure World, in Silver Spring, MD, and she was active for some time in the local Italian Club. Relatives and friends may call at COLLINS FUNERAL HOME, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring, MD, Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, MD on Monday, August 9, at 10 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery Hospice Casey House, 6001 Muncaster Mill Rd., Rockville, MD 20855.

I miss the family get togehters... The Napoli's,Darlings,and the Amato's knew how to have fun. Aunt Helen was always smiling and having a good time. I will always have those memories, she was special.

I was so lucky to have such a terrific and unique person in my life. My husband adored his mom and my children loved being with their Memaw and we all will forever miss her. We loved her and she can never be replaced.
