I was honored to have served under his command as CNFK, I even outlasted him there! (1971-75) Leadership like his I have not found since! I was there when he came and when he left! What a role model every flag officer should aspire to!

Capt. Morgan, I served with you for two years on the USS Fulton. You were a tough skipper, but; fair to all that served with you. I was proud to salute you and say "Aye Aye, sir"

Heaven’s Bow
By: Kate Morgan
You abandoned ship so quickly
I didn’t get to say goodbye
All that’s left are memories
And these will never die
Where are you now?
Up in the sky?
Sailing through a sea of clouds?
Ready about!
Aristocratic countenance
Gentleman of the utmost kind
A quiet, peaceful presence
Intelligence sublime
Where are you now?
Up in the sky?
Sailing through a sea of clouds?
Tacking!
Oh Captain of the Dolphin crew
How everyone looked up to you!
I miss you more than you could know
I wish you didn’t have to go
Where are you now?
Up in the sky?
Sailing through a sea of clouds?
A beacon of light
Sailing, sailing…
On heaven’s bow.

Although I knew him as a legendary Sailor and submariner, I only met Admiral Morgan once, for an interview on a cold February night that ended up as a warm and wonderful evening swapping sea stories. He and Sandy made me feel right at home, and I will always treasure that memory and wish that I'd had the opportunity to go sailing with him!

Dear Joan,
Tears come to my eyes as I read these beautiful remembrances of your father. What a man he was! And, what a lucky daughter you were! I wish to add my sincerest sympathies for your great loss to all those heartfelt messages found here. I know I speak for Ceci, too, in saying that our hearts ache for you, and we know that you will dearly miss your father, but that you will always carry him close to your spirit.

Dear Sandy...There is always a certain amount of trepidation when we notice the Gibson Island burgee at half staff. This time it was for an announcement that took us by surprise. Murray has always reported as to how well Henry had been and that he was racing, as much as ever. Jan and I particularly admired his intellect, gentleness and faith. He will be truly missed by many, including those who knew him as neighbor and friend...John Wunderlick (Gibson Island, MD)

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

Sandy,
I was stunned and deeply saddened when Peter M. called to say Henry had died. Steve and I send you our deepest sympathies.
How sad it is that we had to lose such a uniquely wonderful man- your husband and our true friend. Henry lived life to the fullest sailing until the end. He lived in an age when boats were made of wood and men were made of steel. Luckily, he lived a long and full life and had a chance to realize his dreams, read a good book or two, and laugh a lot. He gave us a legacy of hope for tomorrow of what can be achieved and a style of living life to its fullest. Henry will live forever in our hearts. I imagine him sailing through the heavens with Ernie- joking and laughing all of the way to eternity.
I think of you often, Sandy, and I wish Steve and I were closer so I could give you a big hug.
Love,
Marie

I was deeply saddened to hear of Admiral Morgan's passing. I have many fond memories from my childhood when the Morgans lived in Houston and our families would get together. He also was always willing to show an eager young boy his extensive collection of antique swords, sabres and firearms whenever we were at his house, even though it might have been my fifth or sixth time to ask. Admiral Morgan even tried to teach me how to sail on Lake Conroe, an activity to which I was not naturally inclined as an uncoordinated, awkward pre-teen. He was always patient and kind throughout the entire process.
I was sorry not to have seen more of him since he moved back to Maryland, but it is an honor to have known him, and he will be greatly missed.
I wish the very best to his family during this difficult time.
Yours very truly,
Bruce Bingman

Admiral, May the Lord be with you as you embark on your final cruise.
"Lord God, our power evermore,
Whose arm doth reach the ocean floor,
Dive with our men beneath the sea;
Traverse the depths protectively.
O hear us when we pray, and keep
Them safe from peril in the deep."

I was deeply saddened to hear of Henry's passing. I have such fond memories of my early days at V&E, and meals at your home, and stories of the bunnies eating the table legs. Henry's life was a blessing to all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
With much affection,
