Herbert Shapiro Obituary
SHAPIRO HERBERT SHAPIRO, D.D.S. Of North Bethesda, MD, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Suburban Hospital. Beloved husband of Madelyn Rubinstein Shapiro; devoted father of Margery (Joseph B.) Hoffman, Karen (Barry P.) Barbash, and Dr. Debra L. Shapiro; cherished grandfather of Evan and Benjamin Hirschman, Ellen and Erica Hoffman, and Karen Barbash; loving brother of Elsie Legum, Mildred Walker, Morton (Lenore) Shapiro of Baltimore, MD, Edward Shapiro of Savannah, GA and late brothers Phil, Ted, Leon, and late sister Faye Amster; treasured uncle of many nieces and nephews. Service will be held at Adas Israel Synagogue, Washington, DC on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Burial at King David Cemetery. Shiva will be at the late residence Sunday through Wednesday. Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Our family had Dr Shapiro as our Dentist back in the 60's ,Although we did not know him personaly he was a great Dentist and a friendly person,Sorry for your loss.

We were privileged to have finally met Herbie at the Bar Mitzvah and have warm, wonderful memories of that evening. The loss is great for the entire family and we send our condolences to Maddy and the children.

Although circumstances prevented our meeting Herb in person we felt personaly connected to him via the many e-mails and telephone calls we shared. He was always positive, uplifting, supportive, and caring.
