Of Alexandria, VA, on December 29, 2003. Beloved husband of the late Marion Cook Foreman Smith and the late Marion H.N. Smith; loving father of Lucinda Lewis Smith Seale, Anne Woodley Cook Smith Jones, Marion Norris Smith Jr., Rixey Smith Canfield, Lizette Gordon Smith, Howard W. Smith III and Presley Alexander Lycurgus Smith. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church, Alexandria, on Monday, January 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church, Alexandria; the Alexandria Library or Episcopal High School, Alexandria.
