JACK SMITH MESSICK  
Jack Smith Messick was born February 10, 1932 in St. Michaels, MD to the late Lottie May Smith Messick and Walter Wilson Messick. He was the last of eight children. He passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014 at his home. Jack served as an Army communications specialist in Tokyo during the Korean War and maintained a fondness for Japan all his life. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Norma Brewster in 1953, who preceded him in death in 1987. Jack worked at Waverly Press for some years before moving to the Government Printing Office and then the IRS.  Jack is survived by his beloved companion of many years, Kay Klein; his sister Margaret Pope; brother, Joseph Messick; his children, Pamela Messick Harman, Walter Messick and Jeffrey Messick; his grandchildren, Jackson Messick, Julian Harman, Cherie Harman, Zachary Messick, Rachael Messick and Lindsey Messick; great-grandchildren, Noah and Ethan Jack. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jack's memory can be made to Talbot Humane, 7894 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 21601, The Smile Train Foundation, P.O. Box 96231, Washington, D.C. 20090-6231 or smiletrain.org or The Hydrocephalus Foundation, Inc. (HyFI), 910 Rear Broadway, Saugus, MA 01906. A visitation will be held on March 15, 2015 from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 304 S. Talbot St., St. Michaels, MD 21663, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. A reception will follow the service at Chesapeake Landing Restaurant, 23713 N. St. Michaels Road, St. Michaels. Arrangements are being handled by Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S.
