Reading the Death Notice of Jacob Behrman brought back many nostalgic memories. I worked at Behrman House for about 10 years and left in 1954. I considered Jacob and Rita Behrman as close friends. Jacob was a most caring and wonderful boss and a dear friend. My sympathy to the children and grandchildren.

I was shocked when I read Jacob's obituary in the NY Times....I was very close to Jacob's sister, Dena.....That is why I knew Jacob. He was a dear man. He was sweet and smart and gentle.
Dena and Jacob were very close brother and sister. Also, I knew Jacob's Mother and his other sister, Martha.
Time goes so fast. I was young when I met the Dena Behrman Bengal and Jacob Behrman. I am sad knowing that Jacob is not among us.
Fondly and Sincerely,
Iris Seitel

Jacob Behrman's legacy lies in the library of books that, thanks to him, saw the light of day. He lives on through Behrman House.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. Jacob was my father's best friend and made an enormous difference in his life, as he did in so many lives, I'm sure.
Publisher, handyman, adventurer, wit, problem-solver, family man, businessman, eclectic reader--the list could go on and on.
Jacob was one of a kind, no doubt. He'll be greatly missed.
