Jamal Dajani Obituary

Jamal Nader Dajani
Our beloved Jamal fondly called "Baba" by his family passed away peacefully at home in Sterling, VA on May 30, 2020. He was surrounded by his wife Sara and his children Nader and Laila. Jamal was born on April 27, 1966 in Washington DC. He grew up in Silver Spring MD where he attended Blair HS then went on to Virginia Tech where he received an Engineering degree in 1988. Afterwards he moved to Sterling VA and started a tech company called OROS Inc. Jamal was a devoted husband and proud father of his twins Laila and Nader. He was a sports dad making sure he attended all events his children were involved in playing. He had an outgoing personality and enjoyed talking to people and making people laugh. He was a big kid at heart and always smiled and had a positive outlook towards life. He was a member of Adams Center in Sterling where he prayed with his fellow brothers and sisters. He was our big Teddy Bear and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Rest in peace my love, my Baba. A private service is planned. In lieu of flowers if you would like to make a donation in his name to help find a cure for GBM: https://glioblastomafoundation.org/get-involved/donate or https://www.gbmfoundation.com/donate.

I just learned of Jamal passing away in 2020. I interacted with Jamal over about 10 years when he worked for OROS. I really enjoyed talking sports with Jamal. My son's were about the same age as his twins.

I hope his widow and kids are well.

I am so so sorry to hear about Jamal. I was just realizing that I hadn't talked to him for a couple years and wanted to get back in touch. He and I were colleagues in the vibration test world. I am so sad to hear about his passing and wish the best for his wife and kids.

It was more than a decade back but I still remember this time, working by your side, Jamal, as a fantastic adventure.
Later, we lost contact but I always thought wed get a chance, one day, to talk about how this all set the foundation of my professional career and I would thank you then.
I would thank you for the trust you have put in me.
I would thank you for your smile and warmth.
I would thank you for your patience with my broken English in the beginning.
I would thank you for simply making me feel home in a country that wasnt mine.
Unfortunately, the wishful thinking of yesterday often turns into the regrets of tomorrow.
I hope a somewhere else exists Jamal. And if it does, one day, well sit around an Afghan meal and catch up.
My deepest condolences to Sara, Laila and Nader. Your great husband/father will be remembered.

I was very lucky, Jamal, to meet you and work with you for many years. I was able to appreciate your great humanity, always taking care of others, putting them at ease, and always seeking appeasement and cordial relations. How happy it was for me to travel and meet people in your company. You're going to be very missed by your family, and all of us, your friends. Rest in peace. My deepest condolences to Sarah and the twins.

About 20 years ago, my first international business trip was with you.
I was young, I was unsecure and you were there. Smiling, encouraging, inspiring.
Years later, you became my future husbands mentor and a strong link between us that you may not even have realized. Our couple, our kids are a bit yours.
We then lost contact, time is flying, right? We did not even know you were sick. We would have told you how much you counted, how much we loved you. I hope you forgive us.
I want to keep your smile, your voice, your laugh as a gift to face life your way.
All my thoughts go to Sara, Laila and Nader. I am sure they are as deeply good as you were.
Rest in peace Jamal
