CORCORAN JAMES SEAN PATRICK CORCORAN "The King" On June 19. 2009, at Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park, MD, of cardiac arrest. University of Maryland legend King Corcoran in 1964 led the Terps to a 27-22 victory over Navy in the 1964 Crab Bowl Classic against Roger Stauback. In 1969, Corcoran signed a three year, $125,000 contract with the Pottstown Firebirds. Corcoran would lead the Firebirds to back to back championships in 1969 and 1970. King was signed by the Denver Broncos, the New York Jets and the Canadian Football League. In 1974, Corcoran signed with the Philadelphia Bell, of the newly formed World Football League. He led the WFL in passing touchdowns in the league''s only full season. A tribute/memorial will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Silver Spring Masonic Temple, 410 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring, MD. There will be food and drink at the event. King... You were one in a million...and made a friend with every door that opened. Thanks for allowing me to ge a part of your life...and the kindness you always showed me. When cutting through all the loud jokes...I could always see a very soft and tender little boy who just wanted to be accepted. May God rest your soul in peace. Jim Gibson
