James Hathaway Obituary

Captain James L. Hathaway, CEC, U.S. Navy (Retired) of Northern Virginia, led a life defined by unwavering dedication to his family, faith and country. Born in Marietta, OH on October 31, 1939, Jim embarked on a remarkable journey, leaving an indelible mark wherever he went.
Jim graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1962. He was commissioned as an Ensign in the CEC, U.S. Navy and served 25 years in military service including the Seabees, Jim was stationed in Laos, Cuba, Diego Garcia and stateside at the Pentagon, in Minneapolis, San Francisco and New Orleans to name a few. Beyond his illustrious military career, Jim spent over 25 years enjoying a second career consulting on public works, military housing and facilities acquisition at LMI in Tysons Corner, VA.
Jim was a pillar of strength in the community and celebrated over 60 years of marriage with his lovely wife JoAnn Griffiths from East Liverpool, OH. Jim was known for his kindness, empathy and love within his family and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
