Hittle; son-in-law of Virginia Herring; brother of Jean Hittle Nilsen and her husband, George; brother-in-law of Walter C. Herring and wife, Ladye. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Marc D. and Marci J. Hittle and a great-grandchild, Kodi Taylor. Friends may call at THE MURPHY FUNERAL HOME OF ARLINGTON, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday. Please accept my sincerest condolences. General Hittle was very helpful and encouraging to me when I was working on my master's thesis some 30 years ago. I'm sorry that he is gone.
