James Moores Obituary

James (Jim) Moores of Leisure World, MD and Sun City Center, FL died Monday, April 1, 2024 of a stroke Jim was born June 13, 1936 in West Brownsville, PA. After high school he joined the Marines Corps, serving for three years. Upon discharge he moved to Rockville, MD and joined the Montgomery County Police, retiring after 23 1/2 years after being hurt on the job. He then spent 18 years working for Admiral Security Services.
Jim is survived by the love of his life and best friend of 49 years, Sharon, and daughter Courtney. He was one of five children born to John Paul Moores, Sr. and Martha Moores. Also survived by his sisters, Bettie Moores and Leslie Maczko; and predeceased by his parents, his sister Donna Barger, and brother John P. Moores, Jr.
Jim was active for many years in the American Legion Post 268 and VFW Post 2562, serving as Commander in both. He enjoyed the beaches in the Outer Banks, Ocean City, MD and Sun City, FL.
He will be missed by family and friends. According to Jim's wishes, there will be no service. But next time you have a drink, raise a glass to him.
