Bishop JAMES EDWARD STEADMAN III
Of Washington, DC on Thursday, November 22, 2012. He is survived by his devoted wife first lady Beverly T. Steadman; three children, Tawana, Teneka and Kendrick; three grandchildren. He is also survived by devoted parents, James E. Steadman Jr. and Veronica Steadman-Rowe; five siblings, a host of other relatives and friends. He will lie in state on Friday, December 7 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. with celebrations to follow at 7:30 p.m. at Greater Tyson Temple, 3024 Massachusetts Ave SE, Washington DC. Viewing also on Saturday, December 8 at 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. at Free Gospel Church, 4703 Marlboro Pike, Capitol Heights, MD. Bishop Ralph Green, Pastor. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Services By R. N. Horton.

My heart and love goes out to The Steadman Family. May God strengthen you during this difficult time. As I write this message, my heart still bleeds. On my way home from evening service, I was listening to a song by John P. Kee entitled, “My worship”. And as I listened, it reminded me of Bishop Steadman; The Life, The Legacy, His Worship, His Praise, His Love, the Man of God. Love you Bishop, Love you All.

Just as my friend and brother has recorded on his cell phone, "God has everything in control and God has us under control". Lady Beverly Steadman and family, just remember that Our God has everything in control and God will wipe away our tears and the pain of the death of your husband, your father, our brother and your son and my friend is only for a season, but we shall see him in the morning when the comes back for us. My condolences to the entire families of Bishop James Steadman. James, as I always called him, and I went back a long way in the ministry. My heart and prayers go out to Beverly and the kids. He fought a good fight and he finished his course.....Now what has been laid up for him, he shall receive - A crown of life.

JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THIS...ME AND MY MOM SPOKE WITH BISHOP ON THANKSGIVING DAY... AND THEN THAT NIGHT I GOT THE WORST CALL OF MY LIFE... He mentor us, he married Sonny & I, he pray for & with us, Christian & bless our children he spoke wisdom,encouragement,life and preach to us to told us to "HOLD TO GOD UNCHANGEING HANDS". He would always say Nicey & Sonny I love YA'LL MY SWEETS/SON....my cousin's Y'all have beautiful Children keep raising them up in church that's how grandad & grandma did me...over 30 years ago now he said 40yrs..lol y'all keep them dress so nice...oh that son of y'all Lil Kenny my gawd played them drums. I am still in shock and disbelief at the transition of my friend. His memory will ever shine bright for me because he was instrumental in helping me cope with the loss of my mother and I will always love him for that. He always had an encouraging word and loved the people of God. I thank God for placing him in my life as my spiritual leader when I needed it most. To Lady Steadman, the children and the Greater Tyson Temple Family, carry on as he would have wanted and know that in that morning not far away, we will all see him again. He sleeps now, but the trumpet will sound and those that are sleep will rise and we shall all be caught up together to be with Jesus... Oh what a time that will be...
