No matter how hard I try it is hard to find the words... I just keep remembering our fun times traveling in the summers everywhere and dropping a new dance routine or song to showcase to your family. My friendship with Janelle goes all the way back to nursery school. We were locked in before we even knew what the word friendship really meant, and throughout the years she became more like family. It´s not every day that you meet such kindhearted, genuine people and I was so lucky to have known her for all of these years. We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear colleague, Ms. Janelle Danies, on December 30th. Though Janelle was with the DC Retirement Board for just over a year, she made a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her quiet strength and unwavering commitment to serving DC's police officers, firefighters, and teachers exemplified the very best of public service.
What truly set Janelle apart was her genuine thirst for life and learning - she approached each day with curiosity and dedication that inspired those around her. Our office feels emptier without her presence, and we will deeply miss her gentle spirit and meaningful contributions to our team and community.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Janelle's family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing how much she meant to all of us at the DC Retirement Board.
