A true and tried friend. She loved my wife Taffy and took care of us when Taffy died. You could always count on her and the love was a two way street.

Janet was a true friend not just fairweather. She was always there when asked and sometimes when you didn't ask she knew you needed her calm voice and sweet words. We miss you and hope you are in a happy place.

Janet and I were colleagues at World Wildlife Fund for ten years. Working with Janet was like stepping into a whirlwind - a perfectionist whirlwind - but I always admired her incredible energy and professionalism, as well as her impeccable sense of style. My condolences to her family and her many close friends.

JANET WAS A VERY SPECIAL PERSON IN OUR LIVES. WE ALWAYS LOVED GOING TO WASHINGTON TO VISIT AND MY WIFE "TAFFY" CONSIDERED HER ONE OF HER INNER CIRCLE OF NEAREST AND DEAREST. JANET CAME TO OUR HOME IN NY WHEN TAFFY DIED AND JUST TOOK OVER FOR ME AND THE GIRLS. WE WILL MISS HER PATIENCE AND LOVE. PETER LEAVITT

I was saddened to learn of Janet's death. In the sixties, she and I worked together in the Registrar's Office at SAIS of Johns Hopkins. On a trip to Italy one summer, she learned that the Registrar at the SAIS Bologna Center was resigning, so she applied for the job and was hired as acting Registrar for a year, until a replacement could be found. She was a witty, cheerful, most competent colleague. Once she was typing a list of colleges for me and accidentally transposed the letters "a" and "c" in College of the Sacred Heart, so it appeared as College of the Scared Heart. She and I laughed about that every time we would see each other over the years. My heartfelt condolences to her family.

My heart is broken for the loss of this dear friend of my mother's -- and, in the years since my mom's passing, this dear friend of mine. Janet knitted me my first baby blanket 38 years ago and continued to be a loving, witty, enlightening, inspirational and beloved presence in all our lives through the years. She inspired me to travel the world, explore my culinary instincts, and I treasure every moment of our relationship. My heart goes out to Jimmy and family. I'd be grateful to be kept apprised of any Memorial Service plans. Thank you.

I had the pleasure of knowing Janet as a fellow volunteer at the National Gallery of Art. She was one of the stars of the art information program, a woman of great talent whom I admired and thoroughly enjoyed working with. I still can't believe she is gone. We all miss you, Janet, and shall never forget you.

From WWF to the temple of Bhutan on the mall at the Folklife Festival to the stories from each new travel adventure, Janet had presence, wit, and a fabulous eye for taking the pictures she shared so generously. Our condolences to the family and the rest of the large circle of friends and colleagues who miss her too.

Our sympathies are with Janet's family at this very sad time. Together, we shared many friends from the Smithsonian and elsewhere. My husband and I will especially miss her cheerful greetings here at the Broadmoor; she was a good neighbor.
