Joan M. Gallagher
Joan Marie Gallagher "Mumsie", 68, a resident of Potomac, MD, died on Thursday, December 7, 2017. Fifth generation Washingtonian, Joan was born on August 7, 1949 in Washington, DC to the late James P. and Anne E. Handley O'Laughlin. Joan attended Immaculata Preparatory School and Wheeling Jesuit University. She worked as a real estate agent with Long & Foster Bethesda Gateway. Joan was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Potomac, MD. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; special outings with her grandchildren; and summer days at Bethany Beach. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, D'Arcy G. Gallagher; her children, Kimberly G. (Timothy) O'Connor of Potomac, MD, Jacqueline M. (Benjamin) Conrad of Silver Spring, MD and Curtis D. (Shannon) Gallagher of Greenwich, CT; her siblings, John C. O'Laughlin of Derwood, MD and Maureen O. Irani of Bethesda, MD and her grandchildren, Grace, Katie, Timmy, and Patrick O'Connor; Lucy and Addison Conrad; and Kennedy, Dempsey and Quinn Gallagher. Friends may attend viewing on Tuesday, December 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church (9200 Kentsdale Dr., Potomac, MD). The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, December 13 at 11:30 a.m. (at Mercy as well). Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities DC in Joan Gallagher's memory (Msgr. John Enzler, 924 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001) or online at www.catholiccharitiesdc.org.
