JOHN JOSEPH GLOWICZ  
Of Alexandria, VA, on Feburary 12, 2015, at the age of 79. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on October 31, 1935, he was the last of 11 children of Stephania and John Glowicz. Growing up, he loved baseball and all sports, but upon graduation from high school, duty-bound to his family, John chose the military over baseball for his career. He rose through the Marine enlisted ranks, and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant after 32 years. He would pursue his love of sports later, coaching little league baseball and football teams, and playing in bowling and baseball leagues. He also worked for the US Postal Service until his final, second retirement. John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Glowicz; his sister, Phyllis Glowicz; his daughter Elizabeth Anne, and his daughter and son-in-law, Leona and David Taylor. Friends welcome on Thursday, February 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 20 at 11 a.m. at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA.
