JOHN GURR Obituary


JOHN WOOTEN GURR  
Of Nellysford, Virginia, died Monday, April 29, 2013. Born on June 17, 1936, he was the son of Col. James Walter Gurr and Rebecca Wooten Gurr, and brother of James Walter Gurr III. He left his mark on this world, making many contributions to the communities where he lived in many small ways. A proud son of West Point, he thought "Duty, Honor, Country" every day and lived his life according to the Academy motto. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary McKenzie Gurr; sons, Brian and Christopher; grandson, Asher and daughter-in-law, Kassia. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 5 at Rockfish Presbyterian Church, Nellysford, VA. Donations may be made in John's honor to the Alzheimer's Association: http://act.alz.org/goto/johngurr.

Dearest Mary,
Blessings to you and the family at this difficult time. We will always remember your presence at our special day in Philadelphia, January 2004 and at the Rocky events in Alexandria.
Peace to you and your family. May the beautiful memories of John and his special ways be treasured in your heart, mind and new way of living life with him as your angel.
