John Huntington Obituary

JOHN DINEHART HUNTINGTON
John Dinehart Huntington died peacefully on July 1, 2011, from a fall and complications of Parkinson's disease. He was born on February 17, 1935 to John and Zena Huntington and grew up in the Maryland area. Graduated Montgomery Blair High School in 1935, and served briefly in the Navy. He spent his life working in the Home Improvement Field in various states. John was a carefree individual who loved cars, especially Corvettes and enjoyed boating and watching auto racing. He is preceded in death by his parents, and our mother, Judith Bell. John will be forever remembered by his loving sisters, Patricia Huntington and Dotty Padgett; his beloved children, Richard Huntington, Wendy O'Brien and Holly Huntington, along with his treasured grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. John touched the lives of many, with his handsome smile and cheerful personality. He maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Plans for a celebration of his life will be sometime in the future. Inquiries can email [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in his name, to your local Parkinson's Research Center. Rest in Peace, Dad, you'll be missed more than you know.

I was so sorry to read about John's death in the Press. John was very special to me. I'll always remember his charming ways, his friendly, beguiling smile, and his caring, loving heart. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

I so remember "Mr. Huntington" when I was in junior high school. Besides having a "crush" on his son, I probably had a crush on him too. Memories are of his beautiful smile and wonderful personality. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family. What a very sad loss.

Poppy I will miss you. I will always feel your presence you were always lots of fun. Beach, boats, water skiing, you name it, always ready to go. You were also cherished by my son’s who were fortunate enough to experience lots of adventures with you. They will forever hold their Poppy near and dear to their hearts. Lots of memories. I’m so glad you were part of my life. We will always feel your impact and presence. Take care of Milli and Katy for us. I love you Poppy

Hey Poppy... I know your around me ..I just wanted to let you know that you were the light of my life the only grandfather I've ever had, you made my life special from the day I was born, you taught me more then many people have in my life and I thank you for that..you inspired me to not really want to work "corporate" you inspired me to gain real estate knowledge and home re fabrications - it was always a dream of mine to have you and me build a house together. I know for a fact there are many things I can remember that will always stand out in my head but here are my top 3.
1. Your Beautiful Corvette
2. That Beautiful Jersey Home
3. and your love for Boats

Those each have special memories to me and something you mentioned before you passed away was ( do you remember that picture when you were a little boy on my lap on the tractor in jersey ) Yes Poppy I do... And I'll post it for everyone to see. I truly miss you and I think about it quite often. However, Rest easy sir as you are with your best friends right now ...Millie and Katy... They are walking with you on that jersey beach as I see it..but take care of my them and I know some day I'll see you soon and maybe we can stop by that convenience store and grab up some pies and snacks like you did before you took me to school. I love you - I'll never forget you as long as you always watch over me and our family.
Rest Easy....

I love you - Shaun
