Always a smile. The puma days are memorable. Though we are not displeased with our most recent vet, we have not had a veterinarian with such compassion for the furry critters we brought to see him.

I miss him dearly every time I think of taking any of my pets to Marymont. Even though I love Greg and Allison, no one can ever take the place of Dr. Meyer. He was so very thoughtful, kind and considerate. When it was time to let a pet go, he always would make sure to sedate it first so that pet could be held first and know final love before he administered the final dose. I worked with the ASPCA and always recommended everyone to Dr. Meyer. We had so many great conversations. There is nothing to feel but sorry and sadness for such a terrific person when they pass, even though he is probably tending to every animal in Heaven, and with all the animals I have had, that in itself is a blessing. I know you are happy.

Dr. Meyer was such a kind and compassionate man. He was always great with all of our pets, and we had a lot, so we visited often. Another kind sole taken from us. My condolences to his family. He will definitely be missed.

Dear Dr. Meyer Family: My heart sincerely goes out to you and yours. I am so very, very sorry for all of our great loss!! Dr. John was such a caring, loving, great man. He will truly be missed by all whose heart he touched (two and four legged alike). I first met Dr. John back in 1981 when I got my first pup "Satin Doll" and have been taking all my four legged furry kids to him (Marymont Animal Hospital) ever since. I will truly miss him. Now he is with The Lord up in heaven where he will meet up, again, with my husband. They will both watch over our families. With much love and sympathy, Lisa Shaw (Layla, Puma (Dr. John's), Hanna (aka Grub), and my two legged kid Jady.

To Mrs. Meyer and all the Meyer Family:
May many memories of happy times spent together bring you comfort and help ease your pain as you mourn. Dr. John's positive outlook made a lasting impression on all those who were fortunate to have known him. We were very blessed to have him care for our dogs for many years prior to his retirement from Marymount Animal Hospital. His legacy lives on through all the wonderful care and compassion that Dr. Greg and Dr. Martini and staff provide their patients at Marymount. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

I only spoke to Dr. Meyer on a couple of occasions as I knew him through his daughter Kim. Through Kim, I learned much about his life! Im retired Army and he spent some years of service early in his career. I spoke to him for a bit at Kim's 50th birthday party and what a delightful gentleman. We talked about my wife being a "dog" person and his face lit up. I told him my wife thought about being a Vet but then she decided to go to nursing school. He said, "oh, I'm sorry to hear that!" LOL! We both chuckled quite a bit. That was a joyful interaction. The other time I spoke with him was when he lost his son Carlton just 11 months ago. He gave impassioned and heartfelt reflection at Carlton's services. When I spoke to him afterwards, I shared that I felt his very deep pain. He looked at me and said "you know, we should pass before our children." I shared with him that my sister-in-law was killed in a car accident a week after her wedding (1981) and my father-in-law shared that exact same reflection. All of this is within the God's plan and we don't always understand it. So, we just walk the journey with the Lord and trust it takes us where we should be. RIP John...your journey is completed, you have run the good race and you are now at home with Carlton, your family and the Lord. God bless...Roy

I only knew Dr. Meyer for a very short time; however, I found him to be one of the warmest persons I ever met. I loved listening to his wonderful stories, talking with him in my broken German, and him telling me how proud he was of his daughter and sons. A really good man.

I have known Dr. Meyer for 40 years, for that is how long he has been our family Vet. This is the most caring, gentle, compassionate, dedicated man anyone could ever have the pleasure of knowing and calling friend and we were blessed to have him in our lives. I will miss you.
