JOHN EDGAR NICHOLS  3/21/1939 - 8/12/2016  
J. Edgar Nichols passed away on August 12, 2016 at the age of 77 from cancer and related ailments. He was born in Washington, DC on March 21, 1939 to Louis Burrows Nichols and Jesse Carroll Nichols. He was a true Washingtonian and lived in this area his whole life. His father, Louis B Nichols, had been assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. J. Edgar was named after J. Edgar Hoover, his Godfather. Edgar served in the armed forces from 1960 to 1963 and was stationed in Germany. He worked in the Department of Treasury for U.S. Customs as a Management Analysis for 33 years. In retirement he worked for H&R block as a tax preparation manager through April 2016. He is survived by his son J. Edgar Nichols Jr, granddaughter Liberty Nichols, brother Louis Nichols, nieces Caroline Nichols, Elizabeth Nichols, and Margaret Nichols. A memorial gathering of his friends will be held in September at a time to be announced.
